Maureen Elliott is a long time resident of Murphys and has authored books on the history of several of our local communities: Murphys,  Angels Camp, Altaville and San Andreas as well as one on stories of the early days in the county. She is a native of England and moved to Calaveras County 50 years ago where she worked as a Realtor for many years, closing her office in Arnold in about 2020. She has been the treasurer for several non-profits in the county and also a volunteer with the Murphys Cemetery District for 14 years and at the Calaveras County Archives for over 20 years.
