The Webster Graves on Pennsylvania Gulch Road
The Websters' grave is under this large oak.
Near the Brownsville monument on Pennsylvania Gulch Road -- a mile or so east of Murphys -- is a lone grave surrounded by a wrought iron fence. It is on land that at one time was the burial ground for Douglas Flat and the Brownsville mining area. Three were many grave markers there until the land was made part of a ranch and the gravestones were in the way of cattle grazing so the ranch foreman removed them. Only the grave for the family of Stephen Webster remains visible.
